When determining parameters, keep it logical & consistent.

  • Always use lowercase
  • Always use dashes rather than underscores
  • Try to use consistent patterns for campaign/content
    • week 1 – pilot
    • week 2 – offer1
    • week 3 – offer2
    • week 4 – wrap up
  • When you are done, paste the new URL in your browser. Did you get redirected to a different URL? If so, the redirect rule has stripped your new UTM’s metadata. Instead, return to this tool and set that new URL as the target URL. Upon arrival your UTM metadata will still be intact and your analytics software will be able to read it.
